SAS Certified Base Programmer Credential for SAS 9

The SAS Base Programming Exam for SAS 9 (Exam code: A00-211) covers the following 5 major topics:

  • Accessing Data

  • Creating Data Structures

  • Managing Data

  • Generating Reports

  • Handling Errors

There are 70 multiple-choice questions in the real exam, and the candidate must answer 46 of them correctly in order to pass. The corresponding Prometric Exam ID is A00-211.

The exam is pretty practical in that no data analysis theory is ever tested. The focus is on the technical side of SAS programming. There are two major types of questions you are going to encounter in the exam. With the first type of questions you will be shown some codes and you will be asked to determine the correct results produced by those codes. With the second type of questions you will be asked to determine what to do with some functions and features, why they should be used, and/or their characteristics ...etc etc. These questions often involve minor details that can have you tripped up.

Ron Cody's "Learning SAS by Example: A Programmer's Guide" is arguably the best text book to use for learning the various exam topics. However, the book does not come with any practice questions (in fact, right from the beginning the book was never written for exam prep purpose).

Cody's book will get you truly equipped with the skills necessary to master SAS programming and answer the first type of questions. But the lack of exam focus can make it difficult for you to get ready for the second type of questions. This is where we fill the gap - you may think of our ExamREADINESS Testprep product as the unofficial supplement to the various study text books*, or you may view it as a standalone module with a focus on building up your exam readiness, THROUGH 220 UNIQUE PRACTICE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.

*In addition to Cody's Learning SAS by Example, several other texts were referenced for creating the practice questions, including the "SAS 9 Study Guide" by Ali Hezaveh, "SAS Functions by Example" by Ron Cody, and the official online SAS support web site.

The goal of the practice module is NOT to test your memorization skill. We are not providing you with "real questions" for memorization and cheating. We are giving you practice questions for assessing your knowledge on the different (and difficult) exam topics.

Think the real exam is tough? Wait until you see this SAS Base Programming ExamREADINESS module. The ExamREADINESS SAS questions (a total of 220 questions!!!) are designed to drill you through the relevant contents topic by topic. They are well-written, technically accurate and completely representative of the kind of challenge you are about to face when preparing for the SAS exam.

Our questions are written to draw your attention to the small details that may trip you up in the exam. Each question comes with an answer and a reference to Cody's book for the most authentic technical explanations.

If you can handle the ExamREADINESS questions, you will have no problem with the real exam.
